ASICS x Reigning Champ ‘Paris Edition’

0

The ASICS x Reigning Champ ‘Paris Edition’ is the final stop on the ASICS global run tour and features advanced styles for performance running and the recovery that follows.

Inspired by the city’s diverse cultural scene, historic landmarks, and timeless colour palette, highlights include a limited GEL-NIMBUS™ 22 shoe, a jacquard knit Race Singlet, a 5” Running Short, graphic T-shirts, as well as a relaxed fitting post-run recovery Pullover Hoodie and Short. The collection’s graphic artwork is based on Point Zéro des routes de France. Located just 50 meters from the Cathedral Notre-Dame, the marker is the exact point of measurement between any French city and Paris.

This Paris leg features noted street artist, entrepreneur and runner André Saraiva, whose decades-long body of work has blurred the lines of graffiti and fine art since the late 80s. A rendezvous with Monsieur André captures him running from his Parisian studio, through the City of Lights, visiting his favorite haunts, tags and back alleys, as the sun sets on a summer day. The perfect foil to his creative process, running takes André to a place that is both a respite from his hectic life and a meditative state to fuel his constant creation.

For the film, director Shawn Dogimont sought to show another side to his native Paris, while diving into André’s life as an artist, kicking off the tone at André’s studio at the Hotel Grand Amour, and continuing with a run through the 10th arrondissement, interspersed with musings on life, art and movement throughout the short film. Set to a score by composer and Spike Jonze collaborator Tristan Bechet, and shot by DOP Martial Schmeltz, the team of friends capture the essence of the run as a metaphor for life.

The ASICS x Reigning Champ ‘Paris Edition’ will be available at reigningchamp.com, asics.com and selected retailers in Australia – Sneakerboy, Subtype, Urban Street Gear and Up There on August 15th, 2020.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reboot In Development

0

Fans everywhere were surprised when a YouTube trailer reenvisioned the classic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air into a drama series that even included the Fresh prince himself, Will Smith. Since the trailer aired, there has been alot of buzz around as to whether one of the networks would pick it up and run with it. Skip to today and now we have been told there is a full reboot of the series in development.

Based off the trailer, the new series will be more drama based than a sitcom. Morgan Cooper, the creator of the trailer is actually working with Will Smith on the project. Cooper will co-write the script as well as direct and co-executive produce the series.

So far Peacock, HBO Max & Netflix are all in the bidding process for the series, though this will be a huge get for either HBO Max or Peacock. Peacock is NBC Universal’s streaming service and NBC is where the original series was based.

Smith will also serve as executive producer along with original producers Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and series creators Andy and Susan Borowitz. Chris Collins will be at the helm as showrunner and is co-writing the script with Cooper.

Smith previously spoke to Cooper after watching the trailer, and he came away truly impressed and inspired by what they could explore in a more drama-focused series.

“Mike wrote from the first season of Fresh Prince,” Smith said. “As funny as the episodes are, there was a whole other layer that you couldn’t do, like, in a one-hour drama you can do eight-episode arcs. The dramatic versions of these ideas mean that you can use existing storylines but it’s not going to seem like you’re redoing an episode because the storyline’s going to be brand new from the dramatic perspective.”

Stay tuned for more information on this development. Will be be watching this one?

ASICS x atmos x Sean Wotherspoon GEL-LYTE III OG

0

ASICS SportStyle have teamed with designer and co-founder of Round Two, Sean Wotherspoon and footwear boutique atmos on a limited edition silhouette, the ASICS x atmos x Sean Wotherspoon GEL-LYTE III OG.

GEL-LYTE III was original designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui and released way back in 1990 when both the technology inside and the construction were both cutting-edge. Rich with history of going against tradition and subverting stereotypes, with this new iteration being no different.

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the GEL-LYTE III series, as well as the 20th anniversary of atmos, this model uses the GEL-LYTE III as a canvas, with each shoe acting as an ode to a specific city. The right shoe represents Los Angeles with bright hues and vibrant florals which have become a trademark of Wotherspoon’s designs. The left shoe encapsulates the scenery, side streets and urban elements symbolic of downtown Tokyo, visualized by atmos.

Customization is king when it comes to the ASICS x atmos x Sean Wotherspoon GEL-LYTE III OG, the sneaker comes with five differently colored, interchangeable ASICS stripes as well as tear-away Wotherspoon and atmos patches that allows the chameleon-like silhouette to suit any mood. Corduroy, another signature of a Wotherspoon design, is applied to the upper, granting the model a vintage feel – while the inclusion of three different sets of laces widens customization options, encouraging the wearer to experiment with the silhouette. The GEL logo on the heel is also a removable panel, revealing a hidden message underneath.

The global launch date for the ASICS x atmos x Sean Wotherspoon GEL-LYTE III OG is the 14th of August 2020. In Australia it will be available via online raffle at Above the Clouds, Highs and Lows, Up There, Laced, Subtype, Sneakerboy and Urban Street Gear. Make sure you check their socials for more details.

The birth of XLARGE laid the foundation for the current street scene, it dates back to 1991. XLARGE was founded by Eli Bonerz and Adam Silverman. The XLARGE store had a collection of workwear and sneakers, and at that time, it was ahead of the modern boutique with an innovative product structure. It was by strengthening the connection with the land pattern of Los Angeles, skating and the music scene, a unique street culture was born centered on XLARGE. The addition of Mike D from the Beastie Boys also made the movement even bigger and increased it’s worldwide presence.

XLARGE was born as the original brand of the shop which fuses cultures such as music, art and skateboarding from a unique viewpoint of “expressing practical wear as fashion, not everyday wear”. Established in an instant as a pioneer of street culture.

Casio has announced the release of the GST-B100RH, a new addition to the G-SHOCK family of shock-resistant watches. The GST-B100RH is the first collaboration model created with professional NBA basketball player, Rui Hachimura of the Washington Wizards.

Rui Hachimura was born in Toyama Prefecture, Japan on February 8, 1998. After graduating from Meisei High School in Miyagi Prefecture in 2016, he attended Gonzaga University in the US and became the first Japanese national to play in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament, on a Gonzaga University team that made it the Championship Game of the national tournament. Rui Hachimura was also selected in the 2019 NBA first round (ninth overall) of the US professional basketball league, becoming the first Japanese player ever to be selected in the first round.

Rui Hachimura, who has had a successful first professional season in the professional basketball league in the United States, resonates with G-SHOCK, a brand that, like him, comes from Japan and never fails to take on new challenges on the global stage. Hachimura had this to say regarding his signature watch, “Casio has come up with an amazing watch that perfectly captures the design I envisioned. I think it goes well with various clothing styles. It was also cool to see my special “Black Samurai logo” design on the watch, as it is an important symbol to me.”

Casio and Hachimura signed a global partnership agreement in November 2019. Hachimura, who has loved G-SHOCK watches since he was a student, becomes the first basketball player to ever receive a signature collaboration with Casio.

The new GST-B100RH is a signature model whose design was overseen by Hachimura. The new watch is based on the analog chronograph GST-B100, part of the G-STEEL series that features a bezel made from a combination of different materials and a large dial indicator. This new cool watch features a black base color highlighted by edgy gold ion planting (IP) applied to the metal parts. The watch incorporates a hachi (8 in Japanese) logo representing both his last name and jersey number. Additional bold red accents are applied to the index mark and button pipe at the 8 o’clock position, and to the dial indicator. This signature model is distinguished by the Hachimura logo, also widely known as the “Black Samurai logo,” on the case back, strap keeper, and special packaging.

Rui Hachimura x G-SHOCK collaboration model is retailing for $599SGD and will be available
all G-SHOCK boutiques from end August 2020.

Here is a snapshot of the specs of the 2 phones side by side below

Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra Specs

As mentioned in most rumour reports, the Note 20 series will have 6.7 to 6.9-inch screens with Infinity-0 displays, so no surprise there.

Galaxy Note 20 & Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

The Note 20 Ultra will come with four lenses at the rear. It will have 108 mega-pixel lens and 50x optical zoom while the regular Note 20 has 20x optical zoom. Both versions have 10 mega-pixel front-facing cameras.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Camera

Thanks to both models being powerhouses, the battery lives are more than great. Samsung’s also boasting super-fast charging capabilities so you can get more than 50 per cent charge in just 30 minutes.

Its advanced S Pen function has five new gesture controls to help with ‘touchless navigation of your device’. What’s also kind of cool and efficient is that the Samsung Notes app will allow you to save your notes across multiple devices like your PC, tablet and phone. This is great for people who love taking notes.

The starting price for the regular Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is $1,499 and $1,649 if you’re after 5G. Both come with 256GB memory.

You can get the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra for $1,849 or pay $1,999 if you’d rather opt for 5G. The two versions also come with 256GB memory. In case that’s not enough, you also have the option of getting Note 20 Ultra 5G with 512GB memory but it’ll set you back $2,199 and you can only get it in mystic black.

You can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 starting today, and it will go on sale in Australia through retailers and phone shops from Friday 21st August 2020.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with Galaxy Buds Live

We also saw the next generation of the Samsung Earbuds known as Galaxy Buds Live. There’s no “ambient sound” mode on these earbuds because you’ll have no trouble hearing someone talking next to you or an important announcement at the terminal. Not everyone will like that, but if you want more isolation, that’s where the Buds Plus and their sealed-off design come in.

The Galaxy Buds Live can get up to six hours of continuous battery life with ANC enabled (21 with the case) or eight hours (29 with case) if you’ve got both ANC and Bixby Voice. The Buds Live are only rated for IPX2 water / sweat resistance, meaning they might not survive a rainstorm or a fountain of sweat on a hot day. You’re better off with the Galaxy Buds Plus or something like the Powerbeats Pro for workouts.

Galaxy Buds Live

We also saw the next generation Galaxy Watch 3. It looks similar to the prior model, with a physical rotating dial, two buttons on the side, and a chunkier design compared to the sleeker and simpler Active models. But Samsung says it’s 14 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the Galaxy Watch, which should make it more comfortable to wear, especially for those with smaller wrists. At the same time, the screen size has increased to 1.4 inches on the larger variant.

The Watch 3 is available in two different sizes, 41mm and 45mm, each with Bluetooth or LTE variations. The 41mm version will be available in bronze or silver, while the 45mm watch will be in silver or black. Both models have full-color, always-on OLED displays with Gorilla Glass.
