Sesame Street x Curry Flow 9 ‘Street Pack’

0

Curry Brand, powered by Under Armour, is launching a seven-part footwear collection that brings the spirit of Sesame Street’s iconic Muppets to the basketball court. Stephen Curry is father to three kids under the age of 9. Partnering with Sesame Workshop—the non-profit educational organisation behind Sesame Street—was a natural extension of his recent efforts to celebrate Harlem and inspire young athletes.

Sesame Street has always modelled inclusivity. It’s evident in its storylines and diverse cast of Muppets, humans, and guest stars. “Curry Brand and Sesame Street, we preach the same message,” says Curry, a three-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP. “It’s about supporting all kids, especially those in underserved communities who are looking for an opportunity to be their best selves.”

Curry Brand’s “Street Pack” includes seven colourways based on Sesame Street’s indelible characters. Each are celebrated with unique markings on the shoe’s tongue tab and a hint-of-character flag near the heel. The classic Sesame Street sign is also featured on the sock liner.

The “Count It” colourway, for example, brings to life Count von Count. The shiny tongue tab reflects the satin exterior of his cape and the shoe’s interior matches the cape’s colourful lining. “Talking Trash,” based on Oscar the Grouch, has a metallic tongue tab as a nod to the trash can. Meanwhile, the tongue tab on Cookie Monster’s “Taking Cookies” and other shoe tabs feature a fuzzy, fur-like feel.

The Curry Flow 9 builds on the success of the Curry Flow 8. This updated shoe features a fine-tuned UA Flow traction pattern that works closely with UA Warp; Under Armour’s new-to-basketball upper technology that improves foot stability. They feature supportive tapes that lock the foot onto the UA Flow midsole while allowing for natural movement. Given the intricate structure of the shoe and the array of stylisations, designers worked hard to celebrate Sesame Street’s characters.

Spencer Hawkins is a senior footwear designer at Under Armour. He says, “Every single colourway is a unique story celebrating not only the unique physical attributes of the characters but also what each character can teach us about building a better, more inclusive neighbourhood.”

The first two releases in Sesame Street x Curry Flow 9 “Street Pack” collection are the “Count It” (Count von Count) and “Play Big” (Big Bird) colourways. These will drop in Australia on the 14th January for $220.00AUD.

Keep up to date with the additional “Street Pack” footwear colourways and apparel release date drops by following @UnderArmourAU or shop the latest Curry Brand and Curry Flow 9 “Street Pack” collection by visiting www.underarmour.com.au. The Kickz Stand’s Hit List #42

What was your thought process when you made this awesome Christmas composition?

The yellow line caught my eye as I was pulling into a car park when I was actually wearing my Lightning 4. I had this “yellow brick road” idea in my head. I took a few shots from different distances and as soon as I had this pic — I knew it was the one. A few edits were done, but Santa and his reindeer just fit with this time of the year.

What is your collection like these days?

My collection is diverse, Jordans, Brons, Air Max 1/90s, Kamikazes, Kyries and a few Li-Ningaloo thrown in to make the bulk of the collection. A ton of GRs, as it the love of sneakers for me.

What is your current pick-up?

Had to graba pair of the Reebok All Star Game Kamikaze 2s and the LeBron 8 ‘South Beach.’ They both came in as my last pick ups of 2021!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness Official Trailer

0

Now, if you have seen Spider-Man: No Way Home (and i hope you have by now at time of reading this!) and stuck around right till the end of the credits like a true marvel fan, you would have seen this trailer already. Fans were treated to the first look at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after the events of No Way Home.

To sum it up before we dive into it, you would have had to watch the Disney+ series of Wandavision, Loki & What If…? to understand the multiverse as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The first footage from Doctor Strange 2 confirms a fair number of Marvel fans theories and leaks: America Chavez’s dimensional portal powers certainly seem like a major MacGuffin in the film. One scene of footage shows Strange locked in a fierce battle with a villain who looks unmistakably like Shuma Gorath, the evil entity from a dark dimension who is rumored to be pursuing Chavez across dimensions, in attempt to steal her powers. The key is that Chavez’s powers could allow the evil entity access to any dimension it has yet to consume – but where does that journey of conquering begin?

What we see in the final sequence of the Doctor Strange 2 trailer could easily be the moment that Strange visits the first dimension Shuma Gorath ruined – or at least one of the ruined dimensions left behind. Marvel Comics fans know the comic book history of Shuma Gorath mentions that the evil entity’s true form cannot be perceived by mortals and that the tentacled monster with one big eye is simply the limit of his form that can be perceived in the physical world. As one of the main demonic powers in the Marvel Universe (even more powerful than Mephisto!), it wouldn’t be surprising to see the villain take several forms in the film – including “Evil Strange”.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Movie Poster

So is Evil Strange the Strange Supreme version from What If…? or just a manifestion of Shuma Gorath? Guess time will tell in this one

Either way, this looks dope. Phase 4 of the MCU is going deep dive into the Multiverse and its setting up something very special moving forward.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is due to hit cinemas on May 6th 2022

Footshop x KangaROOS Ultimate 3 ‘Nocturna’

0

Footshop was founded in 2011 in the Czech Republic by Peter Hajduček. Since then Footshop have been defining the current shape of fashion in the streets and online world, focusing on limited, exclusive and premium collections. This year marks Footshop’s 10th year anniversary and to celebrate they will be releasing a few collaborations, one of which is with KangaROOS.

This is not the first time Footshop and KangaROOS have collaborated. First collaboration was in 2018 with the ‘The City Of A Hundred Spires’ which was inspired by the popular nickname for Prague, which references the Czech Republic capital’s unique architecture. The rooftops, terraces and the hundred of spires offer some of the best views you can’t get anywhere else in the world. Second collaboration was in 2019 with the ‘Flip’ which was inspired by the design of the National Museum building in Prague which overlooks the city centre from Wenceslas Square.

Now for 2021, Footshop and KangaROOS third collaboration entitled ‘Nocturna’, inspired by the City of Prague will be the final iteration of the Ultimate model. The sneaker will feature an updated dark colour scheme and will be the most limited of the series of Footshop x KangaROOS collaborations. Only 250 individually numbered hand-made pairs were created.

The Footshop x KangaROOS Ultimate 3 ‘Nocturna’ will feature a black upper combined with the familiar pattern of suede and premium leather with a new addition of ballistic nylon-like canvas. The sock liner and insole are also reworked. Different colour loop on the sneaker’s tongue references the previous two versions of the sneaker. Silver anniversary branding is presented on the tongue, accompanied by detailed graphics of Prague’s iconic Charles’s Bridge on the heel of the sneaker.

The Footshop x KangaROOS Ultimate 3 ‘Nocturna’ will be available on the 21st of December exclusively from Footshop. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter to keep up to date! For previous KangaROOS features, please click here.

The long awaited third chapter of the Harry Potter spinoff series will be picking up from the major cliffhanger ending of the previous film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Erza Miller’s character, Credence Barebone was revealed as Aurelius Dumbledore, the estranged brother of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law). With Aurelius having unlocked his dreaded power as an Obscurus parasite, now under the sway of Grindelwald, the big Wizarding World War is set to begin!

By the time this movie is released, it would have been 3 and a half years since the previous one unfortunately thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic that put a pause on alot of movies. he biggest headlines were, of course, the firing of franchise star Johnny Depp, due to his offscreen legal suit with ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp has been recast as Grindelwald, with Doctor Strange star Mads Mikkelsen stepping in to play Gellert Grindelwald.

Here is the official synopsis below:

“Set in the 1930s, the story leads up to the Wizarding World’s involvement in World War II and will explore the magical communities in Bhutan, Germany and China in addition to previously established locations including Brazil, the United States and United Kingdom. With Grindelwald’s (Mads Mikkelsen) power rapidly growing, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) entrusts Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his friends on a mission that will lead to a clash with Grindelwald’s army, and will lead Dumbledore to ponder how long he will stay on the sidelines in the approaching war”

Our fury little hedgehog is back thanks to Paramount Pictures, and this time with some new friends and new enemies!

As you would expect, the sequel takes place after the events of the first movie and picks up with Sonic alone in the Green Hills while Tom and Maddie Wachowski are on vacation. This is all interrupted by the return of Doctor Eggman, who is back to find the Master Emerald with the help of Knuckles the Echidna, who wasn’t in the first movie. Who also wasn’t in the first movie is Miles “Tails” Prower, who joins Sonic to thwart Doctor Eggman and Knuckle’s plans.

Sonic The Hedgehog was one of the surprise hits of 2020 at the box office making it one of the highest grossing video game movies of all time. The sequel was announced back in May 2020, only a couple of months after the inital release, however since then, we have seen nothing about the movie, until now…

Awake NY x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® TRAINER 21

0

ASICS is pleased to announce the launch of the Awake NY x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® TRAINER 21, collaboration inspired by the vibrancy of Miami. For Awake NY Founder and Creative Director Angelo Baque, Miami has always served as an oasis – a quick flight from New York City, the beach backdrop consistently offered Baque solace from the grind of the concrete jungle.

The GEL-KAYANO® TRAINER 21 shoe combines archived aesthetics with performance capability. Inspired by the heritage of the GEL-KAYANO® TRAINER, this hybrid version preserves the MONO-SOCK™ design from the 90s running shoe and also incorporates the same tooling from 2014’s GEL-KAYANO® 21 shoe, featuring GEL® technology cushioning in the heel and forefoot to evolve the retro runner with performance functionality.

The design of the Awake NY x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® TRAINER 21 was inspired by the vibrancy of Miami. The sneakers teal colourway is a direct nod to the lively hues seen in Miami architecture, while the grey/silver colourway serves as a neutral option for everyday wear.
