2017 was the year we saw the Check take back pole position from the 3 Stripes.

2018 was the year Nike stepped on the gas pedal further and finally left Adidas eating dust.

The @thekickzstand staff and editors voted for the most significant sneaker releases of 2018.
It comes to no surprise our Top 5 is dominated by Nike and the Jordan Brand.

Honorable Mentions

, The Kickz Stand’s Top Weekly Hit List
Adidas ZX 500 x Dragon Ball ‘Son Goku’
“I grew up being a huge Dragon Ball Z fan. It’s all about the details from the shoes down to the box. The colorway represents Goku superbly, plus it uses boost technology which makes the sneakers hella comfortable.” — @nohypelah
, The Kickz Stand’s Top Weekly Hit List
Air Jordan XI ‘Concords’
“In my opinion, these are much more than a pair of kicks. They are a piece of history. That’s what I am looking for in every single pair I get. Something will transmit every time you rock them. That’s the way I feel when I wear them, that I am part of this legacy.” — @nanoshady8

No.5 Air Jordan III ‘Mocha’
“The Quality on these are beautiful. The colorway is so clean. Significantly, this is the first re-release in 17 years. Seems to be a draw, mainly for the old school heads. It’s awesome to see whoever wanted it was able to cop.” — @prod1gal_

No.4 Nike Air Max 1 x @pietparra
“Classic Air Max 1 interpreted by a proven designer using modern colors.”

#3

, The Kickz Stand’s Top Weekly Hit List
Nike React 87 x @undercover_lab ‘Green Mist’
“The first Epic Reacts Flyknits’ design didn’t quite do it for me. This one just hits that sweet spot. Not only does it have that modern clean aesthetic but its very comfortable. I love my sock game as much as my sneaker game. Being able to display both is a huge bonus. It has a bit of that AF1 Invisible Woman nostalgia.” — @shoezen.one

#2

, The Kickz Stand’s Top Weekly Hit List
Air Jordan 3 ‘Black Cement’
“BC3s in general made Mike stay. The first sneaker Tinker designed for MJ. The first one to use elephant prints and a visible air unit. More importantly, the first to use the iconic Jumpman Logo. So much history in one sneaker. You can be and OG or new to the hobby and still enjoy these kicks. Heck, I hate Jordan IIIs, but had to have these in the collection.” —– @bctninja

No.1 Nike Air Max 1/97 x @sean_wotherspoon
“Sneaker of the year?!? They made it because they keep looking better and better with every wear. The corduroy upper ages and frays. The colors fade. That whole story on how the kicks are connected to Round Two and Sean’s business aspiration made the whole release that much more amazing.” — @carlobtn
